There will be more than just regular Icons in FIFA 22. The new special cards for retired players are called FUT Heroes and will provide new exciting options in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team. EA presented the first Heroes and let us know what these cards are going to do.

How do FUT Heroes Cards Work?

FUT Heroes is all about celebrating players who have produced unforgettable moments for their clubs and have thus become absolute fan favorites. EA’s official homepage has the following description:

FUT Heroes have unique league-specific chemistry which is tied to their specific hero moment, providing a green Club link to any player within the same league as well as the usual nation link, giving you new ways to build your dream squad and recreate some of football’s most famous moments in FUT 22.

Nice, nice. So the Heroes primarily serve to push the FUT chemistry. What remains, is the question of how effective these new cards are going to be. When we take a look at the announced Heroes, we don’t really see any big sprinters…

Who Will Get a FIFA 22 Hero Card?

The first nine Heroes were released alongside the official announcement. In August, more legendary club players will follow. According to EA, FUT 22 is set for a “good pinch of nostalgia.”
